Problem: Twin City Tile was approached to solve a problem with existing terrazzo flooring at the Economical Insurance Group. The field of the terrazzo floor had deteriorated with time and several areas had been cracked and broken. The owner wanted to replace the area economically while preserving the aesthetics of the flooring.
Solution: Working with The Walter Fedy Partnership, it was determined that porcelain tile would be more durable that other products. We chopped out the damaged areas, taking care to preserve the costly terrazzo base along the walls. After installing a new concrete mortar bed, we installed the porcelain tile. The results were very satisfactory to the owner. This renovation maintained the aesthetics and appearance desired by the designer and owner.
Considerations: In order not to interfere with the day to day operation of The Economical Group, the work was completed at night and on the weekend. At the end of each shift, we assured safety and cleanliness for the company's employees.
